Motorola K1 KRZR – The Classiest Mobile Phone On The Block
Motorola have been keen to add to their RZR range since the initial major success of the phone the range was named after. Who can blame them? The Motorola K1 KRZR is the latest, and very worthy addition to the family. With its sleek lines and sheer sex appeal, the K1 serves to advance the theory that Motorola is definitely the brand to measure up to in the modern phone market.
In stature alone, the K1 is impressive. At a massive 103mm tall when open and 16mm thick, it certainly makes a remarkable first impression. It is, however, narrower than its family members at 42mm, which only serves to make it that little bit more compact and easier to hold and use. The sexy appearance is largely down to the glass casing though. It is actually a glass compound and thus is hard-wearing rather than easily breakable, as you may expect.
The face of this flip phone is also sheer class. The K1 KRZR screen is 176×220 pixels and displays 256,000 colours. This is nowhere near the specification of other phones on the market but it does not need to be. The images are still crystal clear because the screen is not actually that big. Instead, more emphasis is placed on the keypad. The buttons are well spaced and highlighted, thus making text messaging and menu navigation a lot easier than on its predecessors.
The K1 KRZR is technologically sound and has all of the services that we have come to expect as standard, including bluetooth, 2MP camera and MP3 capabilities. A special mention should go to the bluetooth on the handset because it is in fact the stereo version. You can actively stream music from your phone to a bluetooth headset, and the one that is in with this package is of exceptional quality.
As with any of the Motorola phones though, the K1 KRZR can be difficult when it comes to locating items on the menu. Nothing is in the place that you would expect to find it. Motorola have said that this niggle would be improved on this phone, but alas they have failed in their quest for the complete handset. It is slightly better than the RZR though, and getting used to the phone actually removes the problem entirely as long as you have the patience to do that.
The only other slight problem with the K1 KRZR is the 20MB of on board memory. It is barely enough to hold images, let alone songs. However, the microSD slot can expand the memory to 1GB, which is more than enough!
The Motorola K1 KRZR is, despite its appearance, not an elitist phone. It has the look of class, but a functionality that belies that. It is in line with other phones on the market as far as usability is concerned and is the closest thing to the complete package out there. It is perfectly balanced, which is exactly what you look for in your phone!
