Motorola Motofone F3 – Effectiveness At Its Simplest

With many of today’s mobile phone users seemingly wishing to use their phone more for a music player or a video camera, manufacturers are falling over themselves to fit as many features onto new products as possible. However, there’s still a huge market for just a simple phone, with no gimmicks, and Motorola have latched onto this with their new Motofone F3.

Using the same design as the Razr handsets, minus the flip facility, the new F3 continues Motorola’s slim design from their current range of phones. Indeed, so slim and lightweight is this phone you’ll often forget you have it on you until it actually rings. At less than 12 cm tall and 0.9 cm it’s certainly one of the slimmest handsets on the market, yet funnily enough, one that also has one of the longest in battery life.

The screen on the Motofone F3 uses the new E Ink technology, and this enables you to have the best display possible at all times, even in strong sunlight, due to the high contrast availability. Since Motorola are aiming this handset at either older users, or those with the need for just a truly basic phone, the numbers and text displayed is in large font and this is clear and strong when on screen. The power consumption of the screen is also low, which helps keep the battery life up.

One of the really cool features on this phone is the ability for Voice Command features to be tailored to local language and dialect, which in this day and age of multinational handsets, is a definite plus point.

Although there is no support for video playback or MP3 files (this is a back to basics handset, after all) the Motorola Motofone F3 does still allow text messaging, and the ability to download ring tones, so you can still personalise the phone to your needs.

One of the key factors that Motorola has been singing praises about while promoting this new mobile phone is the battery length. Due to the handset having just the most necessary of options, there are no distractions for the battery to be wasted on. Therefore, in standby mode, you can expect around two weeks power – an extremely generous amount for any mobile phone! However, where the Motofone F3 really shines is in the talk time afforded to it – up to a staggering 450 minutes, or nearly EIGHT hours! Not bad at all for a basic phone…

With the F3, Motorola have really gone back to what made them a great mobile phone company in the first place – strong, reliable products that everyone can use. It may not win them any new fans from the more technologically minded users, but for everyone else, this is just what they’ve been waiting for.
