Nokia 7373 – Back To Basics, But With All The Technological Trimmings!

.

The Nokia 7373 is part of their L’Amour Collection and is available is bronzed black and pink. The whole point of the collection is to bring a touch of glamour to the mobile phone you use every day, and it effectively does that with its nice, if feminine, design. It provides a new perspective on what a mobile phone looks like, but the question to ask should be is it any good?

As far as handsets go, the 7373 goes back to basics. It is a swivel phone and will move through 180°, which works really well with the intricate casing design, but the screen and keypad are standard old school Nokia issue in appearance. The screen is excellent and displays up to 262,000 colours and images appear with extreme clarity, as 320×240 Mega-pixels would suggest. The keypad is also well presented and easy to use. However, unlike with many of its competitors, you cannot navigate the menus when the phone is closed because all buttons are located on the main keypad.

The 7373 may be basic in style, but has all of the latest cutting edge technological features that are popular right now. Bluetooth, MP3, FM radio, 2MP camera, EDGE and XHTML Internet browser are all present and correct and make the phone as up to date as you can get. All work effectively. The camera has a zoom feature to enable you to take better photos and the sound quality is generally good, thus making the expected features as good as any other phone on the market right now.

People who have used the 7373 give it mixed reviews, and I would too. It does have its negative points but they are counterbalanced with just as many positives. On the negative side, the inbuilt memory is 128 MB and thus not enough to store that many songs and images on. However, the phone does come with a MicroSD that boosts the memory to 2G, which serves to resolve that problem.

The functionality of the 7373 is good and accessibility is excellent. The menus are easy to navigate, but once you have inputted data it does prove slightly difficult to edit unless you are knowledgeable about mobiles in general. Another quirk is that nothing is actually stored under the right heading, which ensures that you waste time trying to find what you are looking for. This fault does remedy itself as you get used to the phone and remember the location of everything.

The Nokia 7373 is one of those mobiles that you will either love or hate. I personally love it and, although the menus do take some getting used to, it would prevent others finding things they shouldn’t in there!
