Nokia 8800 Sirocco - Prepare to be Seduced
An upgrade to the first-class Nokia 8800, the Sirocco sports the same head-turning design, as well as the hefty price tag. The Sirocco is not a phone for those interested in the best features, but this high-end handset has a design that is unsurpassed. The only other buttons on the front of the phone are two narrow soft keys that blend well with the classy design. These keys can be used to receive calls without opening the handset, but can be difficult for users with large fingers.
With a simple push on the slide mechanism, the Nokia 8800 Sirocco effortlessly glides open to reveal a rather small, but stylish and functional keypad. The Sirocco is much larger and heavier than similar handsets, but the stylish design and high quality construction is well worth the bulkiness for many users. This classy mobile may not fit comfortably in your pocket, but the included carrying pouch will protect it in your purse or briefcase, and the phone is an ideal size for making calls.
The Sirocco has a significantly better camera than the Nokia 8800, but doesn’t compare to many other camera phones on the market. The camera offers adequate resolution for messaging and other applications on the handset, but there is not a flash and other features are limited. The music player and integrated FM radio are also limited in features, but are great for casual listening. The internal memory of the Sirocco has been increased to 128 MB so more music and pictures can be stored, but there is still no expandable memory slot so storage is rather restricted.
The beautiful, and costly, Nokia 8800 Sirocco may be lacking in fun features but the connectivity and productivity functions of this eye-catching mobile are quite sufficient. With EDGE technology, surfing the internet from the handset is fast and easy and the Sirocco supports all types of messaging. The phone features a speakerphone and supports voice commands, as well as conference calling capabilities.
The attractive, highly durable design of the Nokia 8800 Sirocco doesn’t leave much space for a large battery, resulting in a rather disappointing battery life, especially for such a large phone. The phone needs to be recharged at least every other day for average users. Nokia includes a spare battery to enhance the Sirocco’s usability and a classy desk charger that can charge the handset or the extra battery and makes a rather sophisticated display of the stylish mobile.
